Owners of a popular cocktail and wine bar will be serving customers for the final time this weekend after confirming their impending closure. Hugo's - which opened in 2018 in Mansfield Road, Sherwood - will close for good on Sunday (February 26), citing 'changing circumstances' as the reason behind the 'shock' closure.
The bar - which shares its name with a cocktail and the owners' young son - is located between Pizza Hut and a Holland & Barrett. The premises used to be Blockbuster and, more recently, Sherwood Discounts.
Owner Katherine Shaw shared the news on Hugo's Facebook page, thanking customers for their support over the last four years. The decision was not taken lightly, she said, but a change in circumstances, as well as the current cost of living crisis, were reasons for the closure.

The bar will open for one last hurrah on Sunday from 4-6pm. A post explaining the decision, posted on Friday, February 24, read: "I am writing this message from a state of shock and with much sadness.
"Most of you know my circumstances changed last year and, with this change in circumstances, coupled with the cost of living crisis, both from a personal and professional aspect it’s no longer viable to keep the bar open. This is not a decision I’ve taken lightly, I have explored all options and and opportunities and it’s taken a lot of time and consideration to come to this decision.
"This will be our last week of trading. We will be open tonight, tomorrow (although we have a party!) so not sure how many more we will fit in! We want to go out with a bang so we will be opening our doors one last time on Sunday from 4-6pm.
"I want to thank the staff and all Hugo’s customer old and new. Thank you to everyone for all of your support over the last four years. We’ve cried, laughed, made amazing friends and memories that last a lifetime!
"Would love to see as many of you as possible for a final goodbye on Sunday. Love Katharine and Hugo xx"
