Chinese fast fashion brand Shein has revealed the victor of its global design challenge. Eleonora Falcone emerged as the winner among the nine finalists selected by the jury. Falcone, an Italian designer, secured a spot in the retailer’s Shein X Designer Incubator Programme and received a prize of 10,000 euros. Her SS24 womenswear collection named ‘Glowmantic’ captured the attention of the panel of industry experts, including renowned figures like Julien Fournié, Adrien Roberts, Jill Wanless, and Colin Horgan.
Shein's Chief Marketing Officer, Molly Miao, commended Falcone's winning collection, praising her design acumen, technical proficiency, and commercial acumen, positioning her as a promising fashion talent.
Among the other finalists, three designers were also recognized. Juliana Cavalcanti de Siqueira from Brazil received the Creativity Award, Yuto Nomura from Japan was honored with the Next Gen Award, and UK designer Fungai Sarah Muzoroza clinched the Style award. Each of these winners received a prize of 5,000 euros, while all nine finalists were awarded 3,000 euros each.
Furthermore, Shein announced that the collections of all nine finalists will be produced and made available to its customer base. In a move to support emerging talent, Shein disclosed an additional investment of 50 million dollars in its Shein X Designer Incubator Programme in September 2023. The programme aims to assist young designers in launching their brands globally by providing guidance across various aspects such as product development, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain logistics.
