Sheikh Jassim 'tempted' by Kylian Mbappe as Man United icon Gary Neville slams Glazers again

It has now been some seven months since the Glazer family announced they would be open to selling Manchester United but still the takeover saga rumbles on.

There are two bids on the table, both different in their nature. The approach from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani would see the Qatari take over United in its entirety.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid is different and would not see United taken over completely. Sir Jim's Ineos firm would have a majority stake in the club, but with the Glazers remaining at Old Trafford in a minority role and no longer in complete control of the Reds.

It remains to be seen which bid will be successful, or even if the Glazers deem either to be up to their valuation of the club. Here is MEN Sport's latest takeover round-up.

Sheikh Jassim 'tempted' by Mbappe transfer

It recently emerged that Sheikh Jassim would be ‘tempted’ by the prospect of bringing Kylian Mbappe to United if his takeover is successful.

According to a report in the Daily Express in May, Mbappe is said to be one of the players in his sights to bring to United if his bid to take over at Old Trafford is successful. The France international is one of the best players in the world, and United are also seeking a striker this summer.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, speaking to GiveMeSport, has reiterated that Sheikh Jassim would be tempted by a deal for the PSG star, who has been linked with a switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

He said: “Tempted, yes. It’s just such a big if, though, isn’t it?

“It’s such a big if because this takeover saga just rambles on and on and on and you’ve got to have a degree of sympathy for Erik ten Hag because we’re talking about, you know, the likes of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, can United go in for them?"

Glazers 'embarrassed' as United fans let down in takeover saga

Gary Neville has labelled the Glazers as “embarrassing” in his latest rant against United’s owners, slamming them for their lack of communication amid the takeover process.

No direct update has been given by the club's board since November's sale announcement. Aside from the two parties interested, there is little clarity on the issue which has been rumbling on for more than seven months.

The takeover process is now in its seventh month and Neville has not held back in his criticism of the Glazers for taking so long to reach a conclusion.
