Shea McGee is renowned for her modern rustic interior design style that prioritizes practical design solutions. In her recently unveiled home remodel, there's a common theme of clever design that emphasizes function no less than aesthetics – from the pantry to the dining room.
That's certainly no less true for the home's main bedroom, which we've been lucky enough to gain a glimpse into. Taking to Instagram, the interior designer shared a video in which she talks through a standout vintage cabinet in the bedroom, which is one of the most stylish storage ideas we've seen yet.
'You’re going to hear me say vintage and antique like a lot of times in our house and that’s just because I always have my eye out for pieces that I fall in love with,' Shea explains in the video.
The designer shares that she found the vintage wooden cabinet, which works perfectly with the bedroom's modern rustic style while shopping for another project. Noticing that it would fit perfectly in the space, Shea says it will serve as a space to store clothing: 'I always have boxes of try ons and it's messy and this is the perfect place... this is where I’m hiding the online orders.'
Even if you already have all of the obvious furniture items in your bedroom covered, Shea makes a case for decorating with vintage. Not only does a vintage cabinet like this boast plenty of extra storage space, but it can elevate a room with its height. She explains: 'If you’ve done a dresser, you have nightstands, you’ve done a floor-length mirror and you still have a little bit of space to work with... I think a tall cabinet is a good place to look because it’s a different height and a different shape than all of the other choices that you’d make.'
