Your entryway is a busy zone at Christmas time. With family and friends visiting throughout the season, it's the first part of your home that guests see. So, it only seems right that it should benefit from a festive update beyond a wreath on your front door.
Whichever style of Christmas decor you gravitate towards, a few small but stylish pieces can instantly elevate your entryway ideas for the holidays, especially if you already have a table or shelving in the space.
If you're not sure where to start, Shea McGee has shared her updated design – and everything can be found at Target, where she takes us along on her shopping trip. Here's how to recreate her look.
Designing an entryway for the holidays is all about taking what's already there and adding some festive touches. Shea's scheme already features a side table topped with a mirror, lamp, and decorative objects, so the holiday decor needs to work in harmony with the existing pieces.
There are three core pieces that Shea bought in her reel, all from her Threshold™ designed with Studio McGee collection at Target. 'There are so many good things from our holiday collection and it's really fun to see them in the store,' she says.
The wreath is the focal point of the design – and sets the tone for the color palette. 'I want to add a wreath to my entryway layered over my mirror. I love that this one [the Eucalyptus Ribbon Wreath] has this dark kind of berry tone mixed into it,' she says.
As well as the very on-trend wreath, she also picked up a vintage-inspired framed artwork and a tabletop Christmas tree from the collection. In her entryway, the wreath hangs on the mirror, giving the illusion of a fuller design. The frame sits in a display with taper candles, a large table lamp and two stacked coffee table books.
The small Christmas tree has been placed in a metal pot to the left of the entryway table and decorated with red velvet ribbons and Mini Embossed Mercury Glass Ornaments from McGee & Co, with the extras added to a decorative bowl stacked on top of the books.
The finished look is festive and collected without feeling cluttered. The holiday decor pairs harmoniously with the existing pieces on the entryway table, giving a charming preview into the rest of the home's Christmas decor.
