While many supporters will remember United competing in Europe’s top competition in the late 90s and early 00s, few can recall Newcastle winning silverware. Not since 1955 has a domestic trophy returned to Tyneside.

Former goalkeeper Given played in the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal back in 1998. As someone who understands the decades-long yearning for trophies at St James’ Park, the 46-year-old hopes Eddie Howe can finally end the drought.
“These Newcastle fans, up and down the country, will follow their team, even through the bad times,” Given told Amazon Prime. “They’re up to second in the Premier League now, they'll enjoy that tonight don’t you worry about that.
“Tyneside tonight will be absolutely bouncing and rightly so. These fans deserve, we hope one day, a trophy because these fans have followed them up and down the country. Through good and bad, thick and thin, and you can see the reaction the team and staff are getting now… absolutely brilliant.”
