Shay Given gets Celtic payback on Kris Boyd as he tells Rangers hero to 'keep your chins up'

These days, they say revenge is a dish best served... on Twitter?

They don't really, but it was, at least, the case for Shay Given.

The former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper suffered every Celtic fan's nightmare on transfer deadline day as he found himself sat next to Kris Boyd the moment Rangers announced they'd signed Aaron Ramsey.

Boyd was in typically boisterous form as news trickled through to the Sky Sports studio on Monday night, beckoning Given to give him a "fist bump" in celebration of the Juventus midfielder's loan arrival.

You don't need me to tell you Given wasn't particularly up for sharing in Boyd's glee, and the request was declined with a bemused shake of the head.

Fast forward 48 hours and the tables had very much turned as Celtic walloped Rangers on their way to claiming top spot in the Premiership.

A 3-0 victory for Ange Postecoglou's side - as Ramsey watched from the stand - killed off the transfer buzz at Ibrox and put a very different complexion on the title race.

With Rangers having been top of the table since September, Celtic have been forced to bide their time to get back to the summit.

And taking his time is exactly how Given went about getting back at Boyd for his Sky Sports antics, waiting a full 24 hours after the full-time before having a pop.

The Celtic-supporting 45-year-old, a youth player at the club in the 1990s, wrote on Twitter: "Great to be back in paradise last night. The Bhoys @celticfc did not disappoint keep your chins up @krisboyd.9"
