Shawn Mendes 'doesn't care' what people think about his break up with Camila Cabello

Shawn Mendes says he "doesn't care" what the public think about his break up with Camila Cabello.

The singer, 23, has been focusing on his spirituality over the past year, which helped him heal from his split.

When he was asked by Billboard if the public interest into his relationship with Camila bothered him, he replied: "I honestly don't care."

He revealed how every Thursday he meditates and discusses ancient scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita with former Hindu monk, life coach and author Jay Shetty.

"I think everybody has a moment where they just decide it’s time to kind of do something different,” he said explaining why he had turned to focusing on things outside of music.

He added that his spiritual side is “a part of my life that is much bigger than I actually even let on.”

In January, following the break down of his relationship, Shawn released a song titled It'll Be Okay.

Last week Camila followed suit and also released a tune about her and Shawn's failed partnership called Bam Bam.

In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Camila talked about the song that she worked on with Ed Sheeran, 31.

“You just never know what’s around the corner. I wanted to make a song that had English words but gives me that same feeling that these Latin songs give us. For me, I love Shawn and I feel like there is literally nothing but love for him."

“As I get older, the priorities shift,” she said, adding: “And I feel like it was that way for both of us."

In November 2021, the famous couple told fans that they had split up with a joint statement on their Instagram pages.

"Hey guys we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.”

They began dating in July 2019 shortly after making their hit single Señorita in June.

The pair first collaborated in 2015 with their track I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Shawn has been recently revealed as one of the presenters of the 94th Academy Awards.

He will be joined by Tracee Ellis Ross, Halle Bailey and Sean 'Diddy' Combs at the star-studded event.

Kirsten Dunst, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jesse Plemons have all received Oscar nominations.

It was revealed in February that eight award categories were going to be cut from the televised broadcast.

This included Best Editing, Sound and Hair and Makeup.

Academy President David Rubin said: "We realize these kinds of changes can prompt concern about equity, and we ask you to understand our goal has been to find a balance in which nominees, winners, members, and viewing audience all have a rewarding show experience."
