Shauna Bannon becomes the second Irish female fighter in history to join the UFC

The UFC have signed Shauna Bannon from Invicta who is an Irish 5-0 undefeated strawweight prospect.

Bannon, 29 will make her UFC fighting debut on July 22nd at the UFC Fight Night in London.

Aisling Daly, who competed three times in the UFC between 2014 and 2015, was the first female Irish fighter to be signed by the organization.

The Dubliner is the third Irish fighter currently on the UFC roster with Conor McGregor and Ian Garry completing the Irish contingent.

She trains out in Dublin under former UFC flyweight Paddy Holohan and last fought in March where she defeated Minna Grusander (6-5) of Finland via unanimous decision.

Bannon took to Twitter to confirm the rumours that she had signed with the UFC.

“I can finally announce I am now a @ufc fighter,” tweeted Bannon.

“So grateful for everyone who had a part in me getting here over my 25 years in martial arts. We have had many ups and downs lots of highs and lows and I am now reaching a huge milestone in my career!”
