Shaun Maloney shrugs off Hearts penalty claims as Hibs boss addresses furious Robbie Neilson reaction

Defiant Hibs boss Shaun Maloney doesn't believe referee Don Robertson missed two big penalty decisions for Hearts on derby day.

The Hibees held their city rivals to a goalless stalemate in the second Edinburgh derby of the season but rival boss Robbie Neilson was left fuming over two flashpoints.

Lewis Stevenson barged Ellis Simms in the box and the visitors were screaming for a penalty, as well as a red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

And Hearts also felt aggrieved at what they saw as a missed handball incident in the second half.

But Maloney told Sky Sports his instant reaction was that neither flashpoint should have seen a spot-kick awarded.

When asked about Neilson's view on the crucial decisions, he said: "You know what, I've not seen them back again.

"At the time, no, but I would have to watch them back again."

Maloney was also quick to praise goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski - who was thrown in for his debut in the absence of Matt Macey - as well as Ryan Porteous.

He stated: "I thought he was outstanding (Dabrowski). He has trained like that really.

"Matt's been very, very good for us but unfortunately got injured in the last game.

"That's what can happen with goalkeepers, but his performance was outstanding.

"As was Ryan Porteous, I thought he was by far the best outfield player in the end."
