Sharleen Spiteri has hailed Dame Judi Dench the "coolest lady on the planet" after the pair joined forces for a "rather tipsy" impromptu Abba duet at a Scots pub.
We previously reported how the Texas singer and the legendary actress left punters at the Fife Arms in Braemar stunned when they hijacked a piano for a special Hogmanay performance of the Swedish supergroup's classic hit, Waterloo.
Opening up on the experience on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast show today, Glasgow-born rocker Spiteri gave an insight into how the special singalong came about, as well as the James Bond star's reaction to a clip of the pair going viral.
Sharleen said: "I have to say we were both just a little bit tipsy.
"It was so funny, we thought nothing of it, we were just messing about and the next day we went for lunch and I looked at my phone and there was hundreds of messages.
"My friend was in Mexico and was like 'I'm watching you on TV with Dame Judi Dench'.
"So I go over to Judi and I go 'look' and she said 'good god, if only we’d known, we'd have rehearsed'.
"She’s so cool, she’s the coolest lady on the planet."
A clip of the duo performing soon went viral after being posted to social media by Ewan Venters, CEO of Artfarm, which owns the Fife Arms.
The Say What You Want singer could be heard complementing Dench and exclaiming "what a pianist!" as the unlikely partnership shared the piano seat. In the footage, Dame Judi could be seen playing the piano as she and Spiteri sang along to the famous tune in the 23-second clip.
"What's really funny is how many people still believe Judy really played the piano, that just makes me laugh so much," Spiteri added today.
"She jumped on and I'm literally singing (very low), I was so drunk."
Reflecting on her unusual New Year's Eve gig, the musician then said about her performance with Dame Judi: "It doesn't really get much better than that."
Spiteri, who was appearing on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Radio 2 today (Tuesday) for a world exclusive first play of her new single Mr Haze, also revealed the pair also indulged in a performance of Auld Lang Syne on the same night.
