Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Shaquille Leonard agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, the team announced.
Leonard took free-agent visits with the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys after the Colts waived him from the roster during Thanksgiving week. It should come as no surprise he chose to join former Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni’s squad.

Leonard will be facing the Cowboys in Week 14 so whichever team he chose to sign with would have been facing the team he rejected.
It isn’t clear what type of role Leonard will be working in within Sean Desai’s defense, but he seems like a solid fit for Desai’s two-high scheme. Whether he will emerge as the same player from before the nerve injury remains to be seen.
Regardless, Leonard is getting a fresh start with a chance to compete in the NFC playoffs for one of the best teams in the entire league so this will certainly be something to watch as the rest of the season unfolds.
