Australia legend Shane Warne has declared his interest in becoming England 's next head coach, insisting he would "do a pretty good job".
Previous head coach Chris Silverwood was axed following England's 4-0 Ashes defeat and Paul Collingwood has replaced him on an interim basis.
Collingwood is among the candidates to get the job full-time, with the likes of Justin Langer and Gary Kirsten also heavily linked.
However, Warne has now thrown his hat in the ring, telling the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast : "I'd like to do it, it's a great time to be England coach.
"I think I'd do a pretty good job, there's a lot to work with. There are so many good players in England and a lot of depth, but you've got to get some of the basics right.
"You can't bowl no-balls and drop so many catches, but you've got the players, they're just not performing."
Warne is currently head coach of Hundred franchise London Spirit, who finished last in the inaugural edition of the competition, and previously won the IPL as captain-coach of Rajasthan Royals.
Despite his own interest in the vacant England job, Warne believes his former teammate Langer would do an excellent job if he is appointed as Silverwood's replacement.
Langer recently resigned as Australia's head coach due to a lack of support from the players, support staff and Cricket Australia, having only been offered a short-term contract extension despite success in the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.
"If I were England, I'd be jumping at him," Warne said of Langer. "Winning an Ashes and a World Cup, it doesn't get much bigger than that for Australia, but for me [Langer] was a dead man walking when I didn't hear the captain or any other players sticking up for him, saying he was fantastic.
"I found that really disappointing. Why couldn't Cricket Australia come out and say they were not renewing his contract straight away but would wait until the end of the summer, see who the best candidate is and if Langer is still the best candidate give him a contract?
"I thought it was pretty poorly handled and that Cricket Australia were disgraceful in the way they handled it."
