Shane Lowry net worth as he secures top five PGA Championship finish alongside Padraig Harrington

Usually when Irish people make it big, there's always a level of begrudgery amongst the wider public.

However, there's something about Shane Lowry that makes him undoubtedly one of the most loved Irish celebrities of his generation.

The modest man from Clara, Co Offaly, cemented his place in golfing history in July, 2019, when he won the 148th Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Co Antrim - becoming the first Irish golfer ever to win a major on the island of Ireland.

While he firmly won the hearts of the nation with that momentous victory, he also bagged an astonishing €1.6million in prize money.

In April, Lowry had his best finish at the Masters, finishing in a tie for 21st and collecting a €100,000 cheque.

And last Sunday, Lowry secured his best finish at a PGA Championship alongside fellow Irishman Padraig Harrington, with the pair finishing tied for fourth and collecting €380,000 each.

So, how much is Shane Lowry worth?

It's not known what exactly his net worth is. One website claims the Irish golfer is worth up to €48million, however, several others state that he is worth somewhere in between €8million and €20million.

According to the European Tour's website, Lowry has earned just shy of €16million in prize money from the 245 tournaments he has competed in.

However, that figure would not include income from endorsement deals from some of his sponsors.

What did he do with his first €1m?

When appearing on The Tommy Tiernan Show in May, 2019, Lowry revealed what he bought after winning his first €1million.

He told the RTE host that he didn't buy anything flash, but purchased a pair of shoes each for him and his wife.

Tommy Tiernan hilariously, and sarcastically, replied: "I'd say she was delighted! 'Jaysus thanks for that Shane yeah. I'll put them with all the other f****** shoes I have. You weren't passing a jewellers shop or anything no?'"

Has he made any notable donations?

Lowry is an official ambassador for Temple Street Children's Hospital and in 2018, he donated a whopping €125,000 to the hospital.

He also made headlines earlier in 2021 after becoming an official sponsor for his beloved Offaly GAA. His financial contribution will look to mainly improve underage coaching programmes and other inittiatives.
