Shamed Scots football pundit Andy Gray flogging online video messages to 'fans' for just £5

Shamed former £1.6million-a-year Sky football pundit Andy Gray is earning extra dough – by selling online video messages for just £5.

Eleven years after he was sacked by the broadcasting giant for making sexist comments about a female assistant referee, the former Scotland star is flogging customised films to fans.

Gray, 66, was sacked by Sky Sports for “unacceptable and offensive” behaviour in 2011.

He had initially made sexist comments about official Sian Massey but footage later emerged of him making an inappropriate comment and gesture to fellow presenter Charlotte Jackson.

The former striker – who played for clubs including Dundee United, Aston Villa, Wolves and Rangers in a stellar playing career – was believed to be pocketing £1.6million a year at Sky.

He was forced to take a huge pay cut when he and co-presenter Richard Keys left Sky and moved to talkSPORT, before taking on their current roles at Qatari-owned beIN Sports.

Gray is one of a number of Scottish football players who are selling personalised video messages on site memmo.me.

He is the cheapest football personality on offer, selling videos with Keys and charging £5 for each promo.

More than 40 former international stars and club heroes are available to hire, including Celtic legend Johan Mjallby and Rangers hero Andy Goram.

There are three former Celtic managers listed – Gordon Strachan, 65, Lou Macari, 72, and John Barnes, 58.

Messages from Strachan, who also managed the Scottish national team, are priced at £100.

Macari charges £75 and memos from Barnes, who had a disastrous spell in charge of Celtic in the 1999-2000 season, cost £100.

Personalised video messaging has become a popular way of reaching fans with birthday greetings or good wishes, and celebrities and sports stars can be booked to make a customised video.

About 80 per cent of bookings are made by relatives of fans who want to surprise loved ones.

Among other Scottish football stars who have got in on the act is former Scotland captain, and Rangers No2, Gary McAllister, 57, who can be hired for £35.

Meanwhile 64-year-old Steve Walford – one of Martin O’Neill’s coaches at Celtic – is £50.

Eccentric former Celtic striker Paolo Di Canio, 53, was one of the most expensive to hire.

The Italian charged a whopping £240 to carry out requests but is believed to no longer use the website to sell his videos.

The most expensive signing in Scottish football history, Tore Andre Flo, can also be booked.

It costs £40 to hear from the £12million 48-year-old former Rangers striker.

Messages can be bought from ex-Rangers defender Terry Butcher, 63, for £75.

Early 2000s Old Firm foes Chris Sutton, 49, and Lorenzo Amoruso, 50, are both charging £50, while former Aberdeen goalkeeper Bryan Gunn, 58, takes £30.

Mjallby, 51, is priced at £32, while Goram, 58, is just £25.

Aberdeen hero Dean Windass, 53, can be booked for £30; former Kilmarnock manager Lee Clark, 49, is £20; and ex-Clyde, Chelsea, Everton and Scotland winger Pat Nevin, 58, is £50.

A number of famous Scottish football flops are also listed – such as Celtic’s French loanee Jeremie Aliadiere and former England striker Carlton Cole, both 38.

Aliadiere, who made just two substitute appearances, is looking for £25.50 while Cole, who signed a two-year contract with Celtic but was released after just eight months, charges £50 per video.

Rangers flops Marcus Gayle, 51, and Andy Dibble, 56, can also be booked, with both charging £20.

The site says: “Get personalised video messages from your favourite football legends. Perfect for birthdays, pep talks or just for banter.”
