Shakira is set to move to Miami with her children after splitting up from their father Gerard Pique.
The Hips Don't Lie star, 45, has been involved in a bitter break-up with the Spanish footballer, after an 11-year relationship.
The pair announced their separation earlier this year - after which Gerard was papped with his arm around Clara Chia Marti, 23.
Reports now say Shakira will take sons Milan, nine and Sasha, seven, to the US in January after the former couple's lawyers thrashed out a meeting, which is said to have lasted 12 hours.
Gerard, who broke down in tears on Saturday at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium during an emotional farewell speech after retiring from football, is said to have agreed to Shakira’s request to avoid an ugly court divorce battle.
Spanish outlet El Periodico described the negotiations as "intense" while La Vanguardia added: “The children will spend Christmas in Barcelona but as soon as 2023 begins, the footballer will say goodbye and assume a painful sacrifice so that the youngsters don’t experience an even more traumatic separation between their parents.
“He will be able to cross the Atlantic Ocean to see them whenever he wants. The costs will be borne by both of them.”
The Mirror has contacted Shakira and Gerard's reps for comment.
On Saturday Gerard was filmed hugging Clara in the stands at Barcelona’s stadium after his farewell tribute.
Spanish sports television network Gol Play caught the kiss and wrote alongside the footage it posted on Twitter Gol Direct: “The first kiss of @gerardpique after the tribute.
“The centre back shared this special day with his loved ones.”
Gerard and Barcelona-born Clara are said to have met at his firm Kosmos, where the 23-year-old works.
Spanish news website Niusdiario reported last week the couple are now living together at his luxury city centre penthouse apartment in Barcelona and are planning to start a family.
Shakira was said to be 'very angry' when pics of the pair went viral - with Socialite reporting the former couple had an agreement not to be seen in public with new partners for a year after the split.
The Colombian also appeared to throw shade at her ex in her new song.
Her new track Monotonia references the “narcissism” and “cold as Christmas” attitude of a mystery man.
The video for the song features the singer sobbing in a supermarket - eating crisps.
“It wasn’t your fault, nor was it mine," Shakira sings.
"It was monotony’s fault. I never said anything but it hurt me. I knew this would happen.
"It’s a necessary goodbye. What used to be incredible became routine."
