Pop superstar Shakira appears to have taken a swipe at her ex-partner Gerard Pique in her first new material since their acrimonious split in June.
The 45-year-old Colombian and footballer Pique - ten years her junior - met in 2011 and share two children, but announced their shock separation following allegations the Barcelona defender had played away from home.
The pair released a brief joint statement at the time that read: "We regret to confirm that we are parting ways.
"For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding."
In her new song Te Felicito (I Congratulate You), Shakira sings (translated): "To make you whole / I broke myself in pieces / I was warned, but I didn't take heed / Don't tell me you're sorry / I know you well and I know you're lying."
Discussing the lyrics with Elle magazine, she explained: "I can only say that either consciously or subconsciously, everything I feel, everything I go through is reflected in the lyrics I write, in the videos I make.
"When the glove fits, it fits. Like I said before, my music is that channel."
Shakira also appeared to make reference to the split in the video to her previous single, Monotonia, by holding a fake heart to symbolise heartbreak.
In the days prior to filming Pique had gone public with 23-year-old PR student girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.
Shakira was said to be "very angry" according to reports after he reportedly broke a deal to keep the new relationship secret for a year.
Shakira's family say the star was fuming after seeing pap pictures of the pair together, according to Socialite.
The Spanish celeb site said the couple had an agreement not to be seen in public with new partners for a year after the split and says the pics will "hurt Shakira a lot".
