Shakira's "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" Tour Ignites Travel Boom Across Charlotte, Arlington, Detroit and More U.S. Cities

MIAMI — Shakira isn't just making women stop crying — she's making entire cities smile all the way to the bank. The Colombian pop queen is set to kick off her highly anticipated "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" world tour on May 13, and the economic ripple effects are already undeniable.

Due to overwhelming demand, the tour has upgraded from arenas to stadiums in several major cities, including Miami, Charlotte, Boston, Detroit, Washington D.C., San Antonio, Houston, Phoenix, and San Diego. However, the phenomenon extends beyond the stage: Airbnb searches have increased by more than 200% in key cities such as Charlotte, Arlington, and Detroit compared to the exact dates last year.

"Shakira isn't just selling concerts — she's creating full travel experiences," said an Airbnb spokesperson in a press release. "Her presence is transforming local tourism and boosting city economies along the way."

Women Are Leading the Travel Wave

One of the most striking trends behind this surge is that women are leading the charge. In cities such as San Antonio, Miami, San Diego, Houston, and Las Vegas, more than 60% — and in some cases, nearly 75% — of Airbnb bookings have been made by women. Shakira's empowering image continues to inspire, fueling a movement of female travelers across the U.S.

These travelers aren't just filling stadiums; they're filling restaurants, boutiques, and local attractions. According to a 2024 survey of Airbnb guests in the U.S., visitors spent an average of $205 per person per day on restaurants, groceries, and local entertainment, directly benefiting small businesses and residential neighborhoods that typically don't experience this level of tourism.

Venue Changes and Fresh Opportunities

With demand skyrocketing, multiple stops on Shakira's tour had to move to larger stadium venues. Combined with still-available affordable Airbnb options, there's good news for fans: it's not too late to join the celebration.

The tour will travel across the East Coast from May 13 to June 7, hit Texas from June 11 to 15, and then head to the West Coast, culminating in her final U.S. show on June 30 in San Francisco.

Cities experiencing the largest spikes in Airbnb searches include:

  • Charlotte, NC
  • Arlington, TX
  • Detroit, MI
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Antonio, TX

In 2023, summer concert tours generated more than $100 million globally for Airbnb hosts. Shakira's 2025 run is poised to continue — and perhaps exceed — that trend, reinforcing that her influence goes far beyond the charts.

A Traveling Celebration of Latin Pride

What started as a concert tour has now become a full-scale celebration of Latin pride and sisterhood. With her new album and massive U.S. tour, Shakira isn't just singing about heartbreak and healing — she's writing a new success story for an entire community.
