Shakhtar Donetsk executive reveals Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer fee amid Arsenal talks

Top target: Arsenal are prepared to bid for Mudryk again

Shakhtar Donetsk executive Carlo Nicoloni insists the club are looking for the kind of money Jack Grealish generated if they are to sell Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Ukraine international is Mikel Arteta’s top target ahead of the January transfer window and the Premier League leaders have already seen an opening offer worth around £55m rejected.

Arsenal are expected to return with another bid as talks continue, with Mudryk himself indicating he would be keen on the move by watching the Gunners in action against West Ham.

An injury to Gabriel Jesus has prompted Arsenal into action, though their interest stretches back months.

Shakhtar value the player at closer to £85m and will use Grealish’s £100m move to Manchester City from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 as a precedent.

City have also scouted Mudryk in the past, while Brentford were reportedly close to what would have been a coup last summer.

“€60m it’s not enough to sign Mudryk. Our director said that we need a bid closer to Grealish fee than Antony to sell Mudryk”, Nicoloni told Calciomercato.

“We’re not even considering a bid with €40m as fixed fee.”
