Shai Gilgeous-Alexander spoke to the media on Friday for the first time since his All-Star selection was announced.
Gilgeous-Alexander was named an All-Star reserve on Thursday. The news shouldn’t shock anybody. Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 30.8 points on 50.5% shooting, 5.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds, and he has been the face of the overachieving young Thunder, who are 24-27 and 1.5 games out of 10th place in the Western Conference.
When asked about his first career All-Star bid, Gilgeous-Alexander spoke about the importance of it.
“It’s a good feeling,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “Obviously, it’s on a long list of goals of mine. I was able to accomplish it. It’s a really good feeling.”
Gilgeous-Alexander also asked what it meant for three Thunder players — himself, Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams — to be selected to participate in All-Star weekend.
“It means our future’s bright. We have talented players on our roster.” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “Guys that work hard, have goals, want to achieve them. I’m excited for our future — especially our young guys.”
