Shai Gilgeous-Alexander nominated for February’s Western Conference Player of the Month

For the second straight month, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was nominated for Western Conference Player of the Month for February. He won the award for the first time in December.

This shouldn’t be a shocker as Gilgeous-Alexander has played like an MVP candidate on one of the best teams in the league. The 25-year-old has led the Thunder to a 42-18 record and is in sole possession of first place in the Western Conference standings.

In 59 games, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.2 points on 54.8% shooting, 6.5 assists and 5.6 rebounds. He’s shot 38.2% from 3 on 3.4 attempts.

In 11 games in February, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 30.5 points on 55.9% shooting, seven assists and 5.3 rebounds. He shot 60.6% from 3 on three attempts. This included being an All-Star starter for the first time in his career.

Luka Doncic won the award for February. Other nominees included Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis. The East’s winner was Jayson Tatum.
