The Oklahoma City Thunder secured their 50th win of the season in a thrilling 137-128 victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday night. The standout of the game was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who delivered a remarkable performance by scoring 51 points.
Gilgeous-Alexander's 51-point game marked the fourth time this season that he has reached the 50-point milestone, all within the past seven weeks. As the NBA's scoring leader, he has now achieved at least 40 points in a game for the ninth time during the 2024-25 season. His impressive stat line included making 18 of 30 field goals, going 5 of 9 on 3-pointers, and hitting all 10 of his free throws.

Joining Gilgeous-Alexander in the scoring effort was Jalen Williams, who contributed 24 points for the Thunder. On the Rockets' side, Cam Whitmore matched his career highs with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Reed Sheppard added a career-best 25 points.
Despite missing key players due to injuries, including Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Dillon Brooks, Fred VanVleet, and Tari Eason, the Rockets put up a competitive performance. However, the Thunder's depth and aggressive play ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.
Oklahoma City found themselves trailing early in the second quarter but managed to rally and take a one-point lead at halftime behind Gilgeous-Alexander's 28 first-half points. The Thunder then took control in the third quarter, with Gilgeous-Alexander reaching 45 points by the end of the period as they built a 13-point lead heading into the final quarter.
Although the Rockets made a late push to narrow the gap, the Thunder responded with key plays, including back-to-back 3-pointers from Lu Dort that extended their lead. Gilgeous-Alexander's putback basket to reach 50 points sealed the victory for Oklahoma City.
Looking ahead, the Rockets will face the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, while the Thunder will visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
