Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti owner teases 'different concept' for new restaurant

The owner of Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti has revealed he will be taking over an empty shop in West Bridgford. Edin Gondzic set tongues wagging when he posted a teaser on Instagram with a photo of the building with a 'to let' sign and a winking emjoi.

The property is the former Connaught House shop, on the corner of Central Avenue and Albert Road. It closed in January after nearly 30 years. Edin, who runs Hockley restaurants Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti in Heathcoat Street and Botti de Mamma in Broad Street, has been in the business for 32 years.

The man who is known as much for giving his restaurants quirky names as well as his pasta, is giving very little away at this stage. He told Nottinghamshire Live: "The concept might be different."

The post has caused much speculation and excitement. "Best news ever," said Nottingham Food Blog, while other food lovers replied: "Please call it Sexy Bridgford" and "My Sunday just got 5 million times better."

After leaving Sarajevo in Bosnia, Edin worked at The George in Stamford and The Peacock at Redmile in the Vale of Belvoir before going on to open Shaw's in Broad Street, Hockley. Edin's, a bohemian cafe, followed, and then Edin's Kitchen in Carlton Street.

Edin's Kitchen later became Sexy Mamma Love Cicchetti and then Sexy Fish My Love until it was taken over by the Pizza Pilgrims chain this year.
