Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall makes Eurovision vow

Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall has said she is excited for Liverpool to host Eurovision.

The city won over competition from other major cities such as Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham to host the international spectacle next May. Kim was born in Liverpool before she moved to Canada as a baby.

The 66-year-old is proud of her Merseyside roots and has vowed to attend the event. Speaking at the Glamour Women of the Year awards, she said: "It’s going to be a hoot and a half. If my schedule allows it, I’ll be going.

“I’ve still got family there, and I love to go. I’ve got a portrait in the Walker gallery. It’s a grand place to be from. Eurovision forever!”

The actress was named a Screen Icon at the ceremony, which was held at The Outernet in Central London. Eurovision will be held across the M&S Bank arena and convention centre next year.

The complex's managing director has previously told the ECHO why the city is the perfect Eurovision host. Faye Dyer said: "It will have come down to the people, the culture, the ethos, the whole vibe that is Liverpool and what is the right fit for Eurovision.

"Alongside the glitz and glamour, Eurovision is about how people are made to feel and that is down to our communities. That's not down to any infrastructure, that is down to the people that live here and made Liverpool their home and how they make other people feel when they come here."
