Sevilla midfielder Nemanja Gudelj has fired Manchester United a warning ahead of their Europa League second leg - by insisting his side could have beaten them at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were two goals up in the first leg a week ago, courtesy of first-half Marcel Sabitzer goals.
However, a pair of late own goals by Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire sealed a 2-2 draw, after which Erik ten Hag and Co comforted themselves with a sense of being hard done by.
Gudelj nonetheless believes it was Sevilla who were unfortunate to only be level in the tie as it heads to Spain.
“The team is very confident,” he told reporters. “We have a lot of quality, as the coach says.
“We did not panic after going down 2- 0. We changed things a little. We even wanted to keep playing to score the third.”
Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar said that he is confident of facing Premier League giants United on Thursday night, because he believes no team is bigger than the Andalusians in Europa League terms.
“In this competition, Sevilla are the biggest club,” he stated.
“Our opponents’ name does not scare us. We are going to think about ourselves first, and then think about them.”
