Severn Trent Water apologises after villagers of Aslockton report sewage leaking on their driveways

Severn Trent Water has apologised over concerns of sewage water 'flowing out' on to people's driveways.

Councillor Francis Purdue-Horan raised the issue with the water company on Twitter.

Independent Councillor Purdue-Horan, who represents Bingham West on Rushcliffe Borough Council, said he'd heard about sewage "flowing out onto the road" and onto driveways in Abbey Lane, Aslockton.

He said local residents had been reporting a broken pipe opposite the main entrance to the Aslackr Park housing estate.

Abbey Lane has been closed while Severn Trent Water work to repair the pipe.

In a statement, the water company apologised to customers affected b

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry to customers affected by a damaged sewer pipe on Abbey Lane, in Aslockton. We had teams onsite as quickly as possible, to minimise the impact on local residents.

“Some residents will notice increased activity in the area, as we transport waste away to a nearby treatment works, just as a short-term measure.

"While our teams are working hard to carry out the repair, we’ve put a temporary road closure in place, to keep our engineers and other road users safe.

“Again, we’re really sorry for the disruption and would like to thank people in advance for their patience and understanding.”

It comes after Nottinghamshire Live reported in November that Severn Trent had started on a major project to replace around two kilometres of ageing sewer pipes with brand new ones in Aslockton.
