Not all who wander are lost. They could be just waiting for a plane.
Severe weather continued to wreak havoc on airports in the Northeast and other parts of the U.S. on June 27 just as the summer travel season kicked off.

More than 1,100 flights in, to and out of the country were canceled as of noon, according to the online tracker FlightAware, while more 17,000 were delayed, amid an outbreak of thunderstorms and heavy rain in New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Atlanta.
Newark Airport was at the top of the list, reporting 158 cancelations, followed by LaGuardia with 124 flights and Boston’s Logan Airport with 55 cancellations. JFK Airport had 55 cancellations.
"Weather conditions have caused #EWR Airport flight disruptions," Newark Airport tweeted. "Please check with your airline to determine the status of your flight."
The Federal Aviation Administration attributed the ground delays at LaGuardia and JFK to thunderstorms and weather.
More Bad Weather
United (UAL) had the highest number of cancellations at 410, followed by Republic Airways at 266, Endeavor Air at 111 and JetBlue (JBLU) at 91 cancelled flights.
The National Weather Service in New York called for a severe weather outlook on June 27, with another day of showers and thunderstorms expected.
Meanwhile, an early-summer heat wave that has baked much of Texas and Oklahoma for the past week was spreading across the Gulf Coast, with dangerous heat forecasts reaching all the way to the Florida Keys.
Frustration about long delays erupted on social media with many people sharing their feelings.
"Another day, another round of travel disruptions," The Points Guy's Zach Griff tweeted on June 26. "Every major NYC airport currently has a ground stop and a ground delay program."
"There are nearly 7,000 delayed & canceled flights so far today, and the weather forecast isn't improving much over the next few days," Griff added.
The good news, he said, is that "no airline is in full-blown meltdown mode (yet), but here's the BIG issue this summer: Getting rebooked is a major pain. There simply aren't empty seats available."
'Stranded at Newark Airport'
“Thousands of people stranded at Newark airport, flights getting cancelled left, right and centre," said one person, who posted a video of a long, unmoving line of travelers. "People not being allowed to just get their luggage and leave. The staff keep shouting no retrievals. The line to get your luggage is 5 plus hours long. United airlines seems clueless.”
"Was supposed to be headed home now but am in NYC at least till Wednesday bc of flight delays and currently freaking out," another tweet read.
Delta Air Lines (DAL) tweeted an apology saying that "unfortunately, the NYC airports have experienced air traffic control delays for two days straight. The weather may not necessarily be at the airport but the flight path."
Under the heading of "More Good News," Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently warned the nation's airlines that flights could be disrupted because some planes lack updated equipment to prevent interference from transmissions by wireless companies.
Buttigieg said that only planes retrofitted with the right equipment will be allowed to land when visibility is poor, such as during bad weather.
