Severe weather is expected to continue throughout the entirety of the Commonwealth through Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service expects the most severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening, starting around 4 p.m. through early Thursday. Straight line wind, hail and tornadoes are all possible. Squalls are also possible starting Wednesday night.
Gov. Andy Beshear said during a live streamed conference addressing the weather to make sure weather warnings can be easily accessed.
“Be concerned when you go to bed about how you will get the information,” Beshear said. “If there is a warning, these warnings come really fast the way the storms can develop. It can happen very quickly.”
Kentuckians can listen to weather warnings via a NOAA weather radio, local TV and radio updates, wireless emergency alerts on smartphones, weather apps, listening to outdoor sirens or visiting weather.gov.
State officials recommend to stay in place as much as possible, but State Highway Engineer James Ballenger warns caution if driving is necessary.
“Slow down, keep your hands on the wheel and keep a safe distance from other cars, especially the large semi trucks that you may see on the roadway. Or even better, just safely pull over.”
Meteorologists say to have a safe place prepared, and for workers away from home to know where to go in case of an emergency.
