Drivers are experiencing huge delays on the A77 at Kilmarnock today.
Roadworks are being carried out on the major route with the southbound carriageway closed between Grassyards and Bellfield Interchange.
Resurfacing is taking place and the off-ramp to the Q8 roundabout is also closed entirely.
Vehicles are limited to 40mph and southbound traffic has been switched to the northbound carriageway, which has been reduced to one lane.
According to Traffic Scotland barrier repair, landscape maintenance, lining works and resurfacing traffic management is taking place during the eight-day programme.
Road chiefs have confirmed that the A77 (Off Slip To A76/A71 to Sb On Slip) to A77 (Hurlford Int roundabout to Hurlford Int roundabout), Southbound - Southbound - A77 SB Bellfield Offslip is closed until March 1.
A diversion is in place that allows vehicles to follow main A77 southbound diversion during full closures overnight.
During contraflow operations at the weekend, drivers should refer to diversion for main contraflow works for A78 / A71 West traffic.
For A76 traffic during contraflow operations drivers should continue through contraflow to leave A77 southbound at Bogend Toll - B760 - A719 NB - rejoin A76 at Crossroads roundabout.
