Several ScotRail services face disruption due to 'signalling faults'

SCOTLAND’S rail network is facing disruption on Tuesday morning as a result of signalling faults.

ScotRail has said a number of train services could be affected as a result of the issues although alternative transport arrangements have been arranged.

In a post at 6.35am on Tuesday, the rail operator said: “Due to a fault with the signalling system at Arbroath disruption is expected.

“Train services between Glasgow Queen Street/Edinburgh/Dundee and Aberdeen may be delayed, cancelled or revised.”

A separate post added that ticket acceptance is in place with Stagecoach East Scotland between Dundee and Arbroath in both directions.

It added: “Local services between Dundee and Arbroath will be cancelled. Services between Glasgow/Edinburgh and Aberdeen are still operating via Arbroath.”

A separate post shortly after this one said there was also a fault at Inverkeithing.

ScotRail said: “Due to a fault with the signalling system between Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy disruption is expected.

“Train services between Edinburgh and Fife/Perth/Dundee may be delayed, cancelled or revised.”

Stagecoach bus ticket acceptance is in place on services operating coastal routes between Leven and Inverkeithing.

ScotRail also said: “We are now able to run trains via Aberdour in both directions.

“Services are now returning to run as scheduled with some delays and alterations ongoing.”

At 8am on Tuesday, the rail operator also said a fault with the signalling system between Ayr and Maybole meant disruption is expected.

“Train services between Ayr and Girvan/Stranraer will be cancelled, delayed or revised,” it said.

“We have requested one bus at Stranraer for 9am to run to Ayr. This is not confirmed as of yet.”
