Several people injured after Russia strikes Ukraine with barrage of 140 drones

Russian launched around 140 drones in an overnight attack on Ukraine, striking seven regions of the country and injuring several people.

A residential area in Kherson was one of the regions affected by Russian shelling.

Several private homes were damaged, but no casualties were reported, according to Roman Mrochko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration.

Emergency teams assessed the damage and began recovery efforts immediately.

Residents described the impact, with Svitlana Balezina stating that the first strike landed behind her house before a second hit directly, shattering windows and damaging the structure.

Valentyna Kvitko reported collapsed ceilings and broken windows, while Liudmyla Lazorko confirmed this was the second attack on the neighbourhood in five days.

"We were in the house, sleeping. The first strike hit, we jumped up and ran to the hallway. Then the second strike followed immediately. In our kitchen, the windows burst open, the ceilings collapsed. We were standing in the hallway, I was shaking all over. I got dressed and ran outside. When I came back in, it was like this," explains Kvito.

The number of people injured in Ukraine on Monday in a Russian missile strike in the centre of the city of Sumy rose to 101 people, including 23 children, according to the Sumy regional administration.

The Russian Defence Ministry said on Tuesday that Ukraine had "continued deliberate drone strikes against Russia's civilian energy facilities."

One knocked down a high-voltage power line linking the Rostov nuclear power plant with the city of Tikhoretsk in the southern Krasnodar region, the ministry said, adding that another drone strike had occurred on the Svatovo gas distribution station in the Russia-occupied Ukrainian region of Luhansk.
