Several graves damaged after car smashes through cemetery wall with woman hospitalised

A woman has been left needing treatment in hospital after the car she was driving smashed through the wall of a cemetery in Dublin.

A number of graves were damaged as a result of the incident in Donabate, with Dublin Fire Brigade having to cut the roof off the vehicle to rescue the driver.

No one else appears to have been injured in the shocking incident, which happened shortly after 3am on Sunday morning.

The incident in Donabate saw a number of graves damaged (DFB)

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade explained: "Firefighters extricated a patient from a car after it was driven through the wall of a cemetery in Donabate overnight. The patient was kept stable by FF/Ps while the roof was removed and then they were transported to hospital by NAS.

"Unfortunately several graves were damaged."

The DFB attacked a number of photos showing just how much damage was done to both the vehicle and a number of graves.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardai attended a single car RTC on Main Street Donabate, at approximately 3:15am this morning, Sunday 30th October 2022."
