Seven restaurants and bars loved by Leeds United stars where fans might meet their heroes

We know most weekends we'll find our Leeds United heroes trying their best at Elland Road but some fans are intrigued to know what they get up to off the pitch.

With this in mind, we've taken a look at some of the restaurants and bars at which you might possibly bump into a Leeds United player. Taking a little inspiration from our feature on the 50 best places to eat in Leeds we’ve compiled this follow up article.

In this list, you’ll find a variety of plush venues that have been frequented by Leeds United stars, past and present, in recent years. So these might be the best locations to visit if you want to respectfully ask one of your Whites icons for a selfie or autograph - or just the table they sit at.

Of course, by visiting, you might also feel a little bit like a footballer yourself. This is on account of how fancy some of the venues are.

If you’ve bumped into any Leeds United stars in our city we’d love to know who and where. You can tell us by commenting on this article.

Tappino's

8-10 Westgate, Cleckheaton, BD19 5ET

(Tappino's)

In January 2023, we reported on Willy Gnonto stopping by Tappino's for a bite. Restaurant owner and fellow Italian Pino Bianco from Puglia, spoke of how much he bonded with the young star. Willy even brought a signed Leeds United shirt as a present for the restaurant boss.

Pino said: "Gnonto was a really down to earth kind of guy, genuine and we latched on very quickly. He wasn't pretending to be this big man or anything like that. "He was a decent guy to speak to. I feel like we bonded very quickly. He brought the Leeds United shirt and was pleasant to everybody, all my staff.

"Some of the customers asked if they could take a photo with him. Nice person."

Livin’Italy

Granary Wharf, Wharf Approach, Leeds, LS1 4BR

We reported back in 2019, the Leeds United squad had a big social at the charming Italian restaurant positioned underneath Leeds Train Station. Inspired, we have reviewed the venue. The restaurant has an abundance of Italian dishes to choose from.

The menu boasts all the classics as well as some with a unique twist. The restaurant also lets you make your own with an abundance of toppings available for your pizza - should you go for one. During our visit to review the venue, there were 33 topping options to choose from.

Chophaus

Louis House, Princes Ave, Roundhay, Oakwood, Leeds, LS8 2FA

Another haunt where we’ve spotted Leeds United players is steakhouse Chophaus. We’ve spied the men’s squad and their partners at the restaurant near Roundhay Park.

The Ivy Asia

55-57 Vicar Lane, Leeds, LS1 6BA

The Ivy Asia opened back in 2022 with a big lavish party attended by Leeds United stars and Leeds winner of The Apprentice Sian Gabbidon, who has her own Leeds United links, and Emmerdale faves. On the varied menu at The Ivy Asia, in Leeds city centre, you’ll find sushi, beef, chicken and vegetable dishes. You can pick from dumplings, skewers and seafood options.

Tattu

Minerva, 29 E Parade, Leeds LS1 5PS

We've previously reported Leeds United defender Junior Firpo's visit to restaurant Tattu. Regardless of whether you'll spot a footballer, If you haven't visited then you have to. A stunning pink blossom tree arches over customers in the Chinese restaurant in Leeds city centre, which most definitely has the wow factor. But to focus purely on aesthetics would be remiss. The dishes at Tattu, which are altered on a seasonal rotation, are quite simply out of this world.

Sat Bains

Lenton Lane, Nottingham, NG7 2SA

If you can venture further away from Leeds we know Patrick Bamford has a soft spot for Sat Bains in Nottingham. The two Michelin Star restaurant, which also has accommodation, serves creative, seasonal, modern British cuisine.

Tell us the shops and restaurants you'd like to see open in Leeds by completing our poll. You can also do so here.

Neighbourhood

5 Greek Street, Leeds, LS1 5RW

Again, another photo which makes us a little teary-eyed. We've previously reported on the Leeds United squad's visit to Leeds city centre hotspot Neighbourhood. We'll set you the challenge of telling us which clubs those former Leeds United now play for.
