While his focus may be on the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo 's focus may soon turn towards where he will next be playing his club football.
On Tuesday, Manchester United announced they had terminated Ronaldo's contract following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan. In that interview, Ronaldo slammed the Premier League giants and boss Erik ten Hag, as well as club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
He will now be looking for a new club to join in the January transfer window, though it is not yet known how much interest there will be in him. Here, Mirror Football looks at seven potential destinations.
Sporting Lisbon - 3/1
A fairytale return to Sporting Lisbon would appear to be the most likely outcome for Ronaldo's next move. The 37-year-old started his career with the Portuguese giants and it has long been thought he wants to go back to where it all began.
Sporting could certainly use a player with Ronaldo's calibre, as they sit a disappointing fourth in the Primeira Liga. Financial constraints may impact the deal, though, and they are also not able to offer Champions League football.

Chelsea - 4/1
Chelsea was Ronaldo's most likely destination in the summer transfer window, with owner Todd Boehly having been keen to sign the superstar. Thomas Tuchel torpedoed any deal then, though things may be different under Graham Potter.
The Blues certainly need help in attacking areas amid a disappointing run of results under Potter. Ronaldo may not be the man to provide that though, given Potter's pressing style of play.
Bayern Munich - 17/2
Germany is one of the two big European leagues that Ronaldo is yet to play in. Bayern Munich are the only team that could afford to take him on and with Sadio Mane injured, they may look to bring in a new attacker.
Bayern will be able to offer him a real shot at winning another Champions League trophy, as well as almost certainly landing him a Bundesliga title. Again, Julian Nagelsmann's style of play may be a roadblock to any move for Portugal's captain.
PSG - 12/1
The second of the big five European leagues Ronaldo has not yet graced is France's Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain would certainly be able to afford to hand Ronaldo a mega-money contract.
They can also offer him the mouthwatering possibility of playing alongside Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in a team who will be one of the biggest challengers for the Champions League.
Napoli - 12/1
A return to Serie A may well be on the cards for Ronaldo, though it will not be at Juventus. Instead, current leaders Napoli would appear to be the most likely Italian destination, though Ronaldo's wage demands may block a deal.
Real Madrid - 16/1
The club where Cristiano Ronaldo became a legend could be a possible destination, with Real Madrid mounting another push for the LaLiga and Champions League double. With Karim Benzema injured, Ronaldo could be an option if Los Blancos were to dip into the transfer market.
Money would be no obstacle to the Spanish giants, with Ronaldo still highly thought of at the Santiago Bernabeu. There has been an attempt to refresh their squad, though a last hurrah for Ronaldo could be sanctioned.
Newcastle United - 25/1
It appears unlikely, but Newcastle's Saudi Arabian owners could change their plans and make a statement signing in the January window. Ronaldo would certainly fit into that category and he could be the final piece of the jigsaw as they look to claim a top four spot.
While they are not able to offer European football this season, the Magpies are well-placed to qualify for next year's competitions. Again, Ronaldo would be well compensated for stepping down to move to St James' Park, given Saudi Arabia's limitless cash reserves, though it seems Newcastle - at least at this stage - have little interest in signing him.
