Seth Rogen slams Critics' Choice Awards and jokes he 'might be the first Jew' on The CW

Seth Rogen took to the stage at the Critics' Choice Awards and quickly set to roasting the ceremony.

The comedian, 40, was presenting the award for the Best Comedy Series and before announcing Elementary as the winner, he took aim at both the awards and The CW - the channel it was being shown on stateside.

Seth slammed the show for making two winners take to the stage at the same time for a number of awards as they announced the best actor and best actress categories simultaneously.

He joked organisers should have splashed some more cash for a longer ceremony, saying the fact that they chose to air it in the afternoon surely made it possible.

"That was weird," he said. "Why do they do that? Are we crunched for time? Get another hour! It can’t be that expensive. You know how I know that?

"This show airs at 4 p.m. on the CW. That cannot be pricey… time slot, from my understanding of how this all works."

He then went on to poke fun at The CW. Continuing his speech, he said: "I'm not saying The CW is bad. What I will say is it is the one network to receive zero Critics' Choice nominations."

As the crowd laughed at his observation, he added: "You are saying it's bad. We're on your least favourite network! How did that happen? Nominate yourself next time!"

In a further back handed slap to the channel he jibed: "I might be the first jew on the CW. Soak it in."

Fans of the star were quick to praise his words on social media with many flocking to Twitter to share their delight.

One user wrote: "@Sethrogen basically said everything on my mind. When I'm asked for feedback on the show, I'm just going to forward his bit."

Another added: "The way Seth Rogen just dragged the CW," followed by a number of crying with laughter emoji faces.

A third seemingly agreed with his suggestion of making the show longer, writing: "A fun, entertaining evening but NIX the male and female award given out the same time! Ackward [sic] & very uncomfortable for the actors.

"@Sethrogen really gave the @TheCW a lot of funny zingers! He’s right! Add another hour. It’s at 4pm on the @TheCW. How expensive can it be?"
