Series of events launched to grow Scottish fintech ecosystem

A marketing firm has launched a new initiative to support the growing fintech ecosystem in Scotland.

BDM Marketing & Communications, supported by FinTech Scotland, will deliver a series of events throughout 2022, bringing together the sector to tackle industry-wide challenges in key areas including policy and regulation, skills and talent, investment and internationalisation.

Called FinTech-Tables, it will align to the FinTech Scotland research and innovation roadmap, which aims to deliver a threefold increase in economic growth and job creation over the next 10 years.

The ambition for the roadmap is to deliver an increase in economic gross value add (GVA) through the fintech industry in Scotland from £500,000 today to £21bn gross value added by 2031, as well as delivering in excess of 20,000 new fintech jobs.

FinTech-Tables is already partnering with a number of organisations in the sector, including Glasgow-based data recruitment firm MBN Solutions and global payments platform Mambu.

The opening event, ‘Growing FinTech in Scotland’, took place yesterday at MBN Solutions' office, with a series of events due over the next 12 months.

Mickael Paris, marketing director at FinTech Scotland, said: "If we are to achieve the desired goal of 32,000 new jobs for the sector by 2033, it is important that we come together as a community and consider how we can attract a skilled diverse and inclusive talent pool to Scotland from across the entire globe.”

Michael Young, chief executive at MBN Solutions, added: “FinTech in Scotland is already having a huge impact on the way that individuals and businesses interact with money and financial services - it has the power to change lives and have a positive impact on both people and the planet.”
