As the EuroMillions jackpot soars, over €200m people will be checking their tickets closely.
As the old saying goes, "if you're not in, you can't win", but how can you boost your chances of hitting the jackpot?
One or two tickets a week might not cut it.
Mr Richard Lustig, from the State of Florida, managed to win seven large prizes in state-sponsored lottery games from 1993 to 2010, equalling over $1 million, with his win big strategy.
Unfortunately, Mr Lustig passed away in 2018 but not before he passed on some of his tips in interviews.
Play the least popular games
Lustig maintained that playing the least popular games is the way to go. With fewer people to compete against, it increases your chances of winning.
Although the prizes tend to be smaller, it may be a step in the right direction as your odds of winning are higher.
Avoid quick pick tickets
When speaking to Forbes in the past, Lustig said people should avoid buying a 'quick pick' ticket. He explained that this method works in number sets, which means every number doesn't have the same amount of luck one would think.
"Every time you buy a quick pick, you get a different set of numbers; therefore, your odds are always going to be at their worst in that particular game," Lustig told Forbes.
Form a syndicate
A syndicate is helpful in more ways than one. The more tickets purchased by the group, the higher the chances of striking gold.
As well as this, it prevents one person from spending an excessive amount of money on tickets.
Go with your gut
Lustig maintains the way to pick your winning numbers is to not overthink it and to stick to the set you feel most drawn to.
"Remember, a set of numbers wins the grand prize, not individual numbers," Lustig explained.
If you're playing multiple lines, make sure you have variety in the grouping of numbers chosen to maximize your odds.
Know when to stop
Like all gambling, it is important to know your limits. Everyone wants to win big, but the quest for cash shouldn't cloud your judgement.
If you can afford one ticket a win, great. If you can afford 10, fantastic. It's all down to the individual.
"Set a budget of what you're going to spend. Do not get caught up in what's called 'lottery fever,'" Lustig told Forbes.
