Sergio Romero is interested in returning to Manchester United this summer, just one year after leaving the club.
United are in the market for a new back-up goalkeeper in the transfer window ahead of Dean Henderson's proposed loan move to Nottingham Forest. The 35-year-old Romero is a free agent following a spell with Italian side Venezia, who were relegated at the end of their first season back in Serie A for 19 years.
The Manchester Evening News understands that although United haven't signalled a formal interest in signing Romero this summer, their former shot-stopper would be open to a return to his old club in a back-up role.

A source close to the player admitted that Romero still has a lot of love for the club and that "he would always come back" if an offer was made for him.
Romero was frozen out by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and often forced to train alone during his final season at United, before leaving on a free transfer a year ago after falling down the pecking order behind Henderson.
The Argentine failed to make a single appearance in the league or any cup during his final season, with his last United appearance coming in August 2020 in the quarter-finals of the Europa League against FC Copenhagen.
Romero was disappointed after he was dropped for the 2020 Europa League semi-final defeat against Sevilla and subsequently asked to leave United that summer, but his proposed loan move to Everton was blocked.
The player's wife took to Instagram to hit out against the decision to block his loan move on deadline day, and the stopper was permanently axed from Solskjaer's plans.
Romero made a total of 61 appearances for United, winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League during his stay.
