Sergio Ramos dedicates Real Madrid's LaLiga title to coronavirus victims

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has dedicated the club's LaLiga title to the victims of coronavirus.

Ramos lifted the trophy after Los Blancos' 2-1 win at home to Villarreal on Thursday night sealed the title for Zinedine Zidane's side ahead of Barcelona with one round of the competition remaining.

Madrid's players took part in an institutional event to celebrate in the capital on Friday and Ramos said: "It's a day to remember the people who have had a hard time with the pandemic and hopefully this league title will serve to ease some of that pain."

And on Twitter, he added: "I'm very proud of this LaLiga title. Because victory, in football and in life, comes from fighting together to the end.

"I would especially like to remember all our supporters who have passed away or who have lost loved ones to this terrible virus. This one’s for you."

Real have won 10 matches in a row since lockdown and end their campaign with a local derby away to relegation-threatened Leganes in the capital on Sunday.
