Sergio Aguero predicts Pep Guardiola tactics for Real Madrid vs Man City second leg

Sergio Aguero has outlined how he believes Pep Guardiola will approach Manchester City’s second leg with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The visitors have a one-goal advantage going into the match after dominating the play during the first leg. But despite attaining only a slender margin, Aguero believes Guardiola will stick to his principles.

The Catalan manager was criticised for not fielding a defensive midfielder in last year’s Champions League final loss to Chelsea - something he had not done all season. Aguero says his former boss will have learned from his errors and will entrust in his philosophy despite the pressures of the Bernabeu.

Speaking to Stake.com, he said: “I don’t think Manchester City will play in a different way to normal for the match in Madrid. This team is so good because there are a lot of talented players and a lot of them have played for Guardiola for a long time and know exactly what they need to do.

“There is only one way of playing and everybody understands that. Maybe the formation or people on the pitch change but they all work towards the same goal of winning and making it a hard game for Real Madrid.”

Aguero said that City are in for “a tough game” against Madrid, who have recently sealed the La Liga title, but will be encouraged from the first leg. He added: “ Pep Guardiola should be happy with his team in the first match against Real Madrid because they played some amazing football and scored some really good goals.

“If the team is playing well and scoring you need to make sure you’re in control of the game and then you have a good chance of winning. Three goals for Real Madrid is not perfect for Manchester City, but they are ahead.”
