Sergio Aguero makes Man City vs Arsenal prediction ahead of Premier League fixture

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero believes his former side's meeting with Arsenal will be played with more intensity because of the latter's recent dropped points.

City host the Gunners at the Etihad in a clash that will have a huge say on the destination of the top-flight trophy. City trail Arsenal by five points but hold two games in hand over Mikel Arteta's side. In the eyes of many, Pep Guardiola's team are the favourites and victory on Wednesday would put the title firmly within City's grasp.

Aguero believes the importance of the fixture has increased after Arsenal's recent dropped points, but he doesn't think a win for City would guarantee them the title.

"A key match, for sure, but certainly a different game than, say, if Arsenal had a bigger point advantage on the table," Aguero told Stake.com. "Now, we can expect a heightened intensity because of how tight it's become.

"City has had a fine performance lately. We managed to pull it off last year, and we may just do it this year too.

"It ain't over 'til it's over. I don't see why we should take anything for granted. A win will get City closer to the trophy, yes... but there's no guarantees."

Aguero has argued that there is as much pressure on City as on Arsenal despite their recent domestic success. The Argentine believes that the intensity of the rivalry means neither side can take their foot off the gas.

"They've been fighting neck and neck throughout the whole campaign, and they don't want it to slip away at the last stretch," he said.

"It may be more pressure for us because we've played a great streak of games – and a win here would crown this performance. Regardless, I wouldn't use the word 'pressure'. I say it's enthusiasm. We all wanted this game to arrive, and I'm sure it'll be a sight."
