Sergio Aguero details why Man City star Kevin De Bruyne is world class

Manchester City 2012 title hero Sergio Aguero has outlined the qualities possessed by Kevin De Bruyne that makes him “one of the best midfielders in the world.”

The playmaker has been hailed as being among the greatest players to grace the Premier League. Since his 2015 arrival, the Belgian has scored 82 goals from midfield and clocked up 119 assists.

During his time in England, he has won three titles, an FA Cup and five League Cups - all of them alongside Aguero. The Argentine was often a beneficiary of one of De Bruyne’s assists as he raced to a club-record 260 goals during his stay at the Etihad.

The now-retired attacker hailed his former colleague, explaining what sets De Bruyne apart on the pitch. “For me, Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best midfielders in the world,” he told Stake.com.

“It was always so special to play with Kevin De Bruyne because he was so good with moving the ball exactly where he wanted it. He only needs one look to know where you are or where you are going to move and he’ll get the ball to you immediately, his speed and accuracy with passing is like nobody else.”

Aguero suffered a Champions League final loss with Manchester City last year, as Chelsea earned a 1-0 win. He explained how the feeling felt last May will spur the team on to go one better this time around.

“The Champions League is so hard to win and we got so close in 2021,” he added. "The manager, coaches and all the players that played in that game will really want to win it this year and they have a very good chance, but you have to be there.

“(Pep) Guardiola has already won so much with Manchester City but he will want to win the Champions League with them because then it means they are the best team in Europe, which nobody can argue. It is the one trophy that Manchester City have not won so to do it this year will be very special and everyone will be very motivated to win.”

City travel to Madrid with a 4-3 lead from the first leg last week. Guardiola will be vying to reach his fourth Champions League final as a manager.
