Israel military's ground operations in a location given as Gaza

A senior ISIS official, Usamah Jamal Muhammad Ibrahim al-Janabi, was killed in a US airstrike in Syria on Sunday, as confirmed by the US military on Wednesday. The strike, conducted by US Central Command, aimed to disrupt ISIS's ability to resource and carry out terror attacks.

According to CENTCOM, the airstrike resulted in the death of the senior ISIS facilitator without any indication of civilian casualties. This operation was not previously announced, highlighting the ongoing efforts of the US military to target ISIS operatives in Africa and the Middle East.

In a separate incident nearly three weeks ago, a US airstrike in Somalia near Dhaardaar reportedly killed three ISIS militants, as reported by US Africa Command. The US military's operations against ISIS have been active, with significant results between January and March 2024.

In Syria, CENTCOM and its partners eliminated seven ISIS operatives and detained 27 individuals during the specified time frame. In Iraq, 11 ISIS operatives were killed, and 36 people were detained in the same period.

General Erik Kurilla, the commander of CENTCOM, emphasized the commitment to the enduring defeat of ISIS due to the threat they pose regionally and globally. The focus remains on targeting ISIS members involved in external operations beyond Iraq and Syria, as well as preventing attempts to reconstitute their forces by breaking out detained ISIS members.
