Few Toon supporters can remember Jimmy Scoular lifting the FA Cup after a 3-1 win over Manchester City. Jackie Milburn, Bobby Mitchell and George Hannah proved the hero that day to clinch the trophy for the third time in five years.

Another Manchester club, United, await at the iconic stadium, the first time Newcastle have played there on merit. Rafa Benitez took two Magpies sides to Wembley when Tottenham Hotspur temporarily made the venue their home, failing to score on both occasions.
But Newcastle have not reached the national stadium in a cup competition since April 2000, when Chelsea won 2-1 at the ground in the FA Cup semi-final. A whole generation of fans have never witnessed their side in a cup final, a feat last achieved one year earlier - also against Man United - in 1999.
