Today, Senators were sworn in alphabetically in groups by Vice President Kamala Harris and then signed the oath book. Some senators were escorted by former senators from their state or by the outgoing senator they were replacing. Notably, Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio was escorted by Vice President-elect JD Vance.
However, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice did not take the oath of office in the Senate today. On December 26, he announced that he would continue serving as the governor of West Virginia until next week when Governor-elect Patrick Morrisey is sworn in.
