Senator criticizes Secretary of Defense and President for weakness

U.S. Defense Secretary Austin meets with British Defense Minister Shapps at the in Washington

In response to the recent attack and the return of three fallen soldiers, Republican Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota expressed his frustrations and called for a more effective strategy in dealing with the escalating tensions. Speaking about the attack, Senator Cramer highlighted the preventability of the situation, echoing the sentiments of many Americans who believe that the tragic incident could have been avoided.

Senator Cramer referenced his visit with the family of a North Dakotan soldier injured in an attack in Erbil on Christmas Day, carried out by small drones that managed to penetrate security measures. He expressed concern over the numerous attacks that have occurred since then, with seemingly minor responses from the United States. Senator Cramer stressed the importance of a swift and strong response as a means of projecting strength and deterring the enemy.

During a breakfast meeting at the Pentagon with colleagues and General Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Senator Cramer highlighted the need for pre-planned targets to enable a rapid response. He emphasized that the absence of such targets undermines the projection of strength and inadvertently fuels the escalation of the conflict. Drawing from historical experiences with Iran, Senator Cramer asserted that strength is the only language that the country responds to.

The Senator also touched upon the recent statements by Hezbollah and Iran. While Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, they have promised not to engage in further aggression. However, Iran has responded with a challenging stance, daring any military action against them as they vow to retaliate. Senator Cramer stated that this showcases the weakness of the United States, which serves to escalate the conflict rather than deter the enemy.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the current Secretary of Defense, Senator Cramer mentioned that he has been absent and lacks a comprehensive strategy in dealing with the situation. He remarked on the difficulty in understanding both the Defense Secretary and the Commander-in-Chief's communication, citing their weakness in projecting strength and effectively conveying their intentions.

In conclusion, Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota voiced his frustrations over the preventability of the recent attack and called for a stronger and more decisive strategy. He emphasized the need for rapid and forceful responses to deter further aggression from the enemy. Senator Cramer also expressed concerns about the lack of clear communication from the Defense Secretary and the Commander-in-Chief, highlighting the urgency to project strength and unity in the face of escalating tensions.
