Senate Majority Leader John Thune has indicated that Senate Republicans are in the process of evaluating the deep spending cuts proposed in the House budget blueprint recently adopted. While Thune did not explicitly commit to accepting these cuts, he mentioned that discussions on the matter will commence soon.
Thune expressed positive sentiments towards the House bill, referring to it as a 'good product to work with.' However, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that any tax cuts included in the bill are permanent rather than temporary. This permanency of tax cuts is a key provision that Senate Republicans are keen on incorporating into the final bill.

Confident in the progress being made, Thune stated, 'I feel pretty confident we’re on a good path and in the end, we’ll figure out how to get something that can clear the Senate and the House. And there are a couple of things that we think we can do to make the bill stronger.'
Looking ahead, Thune mentioned that Senate Republicans have scheduled meetings for the following week to receive briefings on the parameters of the budget debate and the proposed path forward.
