Thune praised Carter's hands-on approach to service, recounting how the former president actively participated in Habitat builds, including a project in South Dakota in 1994. Despite his advanced age, Carter was known for donning a hard hat and working alongside volunteers to ensure families had decent housing. Thune highlighted Carter's commitment to the principle of serving others, citing his willingness to engage in practical tasks to fulfill his mission.
