The Senate confirmation hearings for President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for US attorney general and his secretary of state choice are currently on a break. During the hearings, the nominee for attorney general has addressed questions regarding her loyalty to Trump and assured that there will be no 'enemies list' at the Department of Justice if she is confirmed.
However, she has also made inaccurate statements about a phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in 2021. Additionally, she falsely claimed that there was a peaceful transition of power, disregarding the events of the January 6 attack on the US Capitol that disrupted the election certification process.
On the other hand, the nominee for secretary of state criticized the International Criminal Court’s case against Israeli government officials. He also expressed his commitment to maintaining the longstanding US policy toward Taiwan and emphasized the need for an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Furthermore, he voiced his support for a bipartisan law that he co-sponsored, which prevents the US from withdrawing from NATO without Senate approval or an act of Congress. However, his hearing was briefly interrupted by protesters.
