The Senate’s Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee voted by a 12–7 margin to advance the nomination of Kelly Loeffler for the Small Business Administration (SBA) administrator to the Senate floor. Loeffler, a former senator from Georgia and a successful business executive, pledged to donate her annual $207,500 salary to charity if confirmed.
Together with her husband, Jeff, Loeffler founded a Fortune 500 financial services and technology company. Her commitment to donating her federal salary aligns with her past actions, as she previously donated her Senate salary to over 40 Georgia charities and nonprofits.
If confirmed, Loeffler aims to focus on making the Small Business Administration a gateway to the American Dream for entrepreneurs nationwide. During her confirmation hearing, she expressed support for President Trump’s decision to halt wasteful spending, emphasizing the need for government efficiency.

However, Loeffler faced scrutiny from Senator Ed Markey regarding the Trump administration’s temporary freeze on federal grants and loans. The move aimed to address concerns about 'wokeness' and the 'weaponization of government.' While the White House later rescinded the memo, questions lingered about the legality of the decision.
Despite the contentious exchange with Markey, Loeffler remained steadfast in her support of President Trump’s efforts to curb excessive government spending. Her wealth, estimated at around $1 billion, underscores her commitment to philanthropy and public service.
